Today As Told By Photos - My Basil

May 04, 2020

I have been trying to grow basil for some time now. I first started last year, around summertime. I grew five pots but they died due to extreme summer heat.

This year, I tried and out grew a beautiful bunch of fragrant, shiny herb. I even called them my "pizza plant."

My mother told me I have a green thumb. Unfortunately (or not), I have five cats and four dogs, too. One of them, or two (or more!) are notorious plant wrestlers. I can tell you cat/dog-plant wrestling is a pitiful one-sided fight.

My basil pot lost. Twice.

At first, my black cat pushed the pot from the table where it (the basil plant) diplomatically sat.

I salvaged three "still-standing" basil plants and replaced them.

Then came my dogs. My poor basil baby finally passed on.

Fortunately, plants can be reborn in the form of seeds. This time, I kept them away from the nasty, furry, cute creatures.

Hang in there, my wonderful pizza plant!

P.S. Here are the mugshots of suspects of the basil crime.

I also took a photo of my mother's poinsettia tree. It is a well-known Christmas plant. It's leaves turn red but they turn into pink as well.

(My dirty hands after a midday plant check. Someone needs to cut her nails.)
